WELab – Women in STEM Entrepreneurship Announcement Event

The University of Calgary’s Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking has received grant funding through the federal Research Support Fund’s Incremental Project Grant to build the university’s first women in STEM (science, tech, engineering and mathematics) entrepreneurship program and pitch competition.

WELab is a female entrepreneurship education and mentorship program, designed to inspire and develop the next generation of women entrepreneurs, leaders and changemakers across diverse disciplines.

WELab program will serve all female-identifying students, staff, and faculty interested in receiving entrepreneurial mentorship and training.

Event Overview

On Wednesday, October 30th, the first WELab mentorship workshop will be hosted.

At the beginning of the event, we will be hosting an announcement event to share what WELab’s program has to offer with our community supporters, industry partners and government representatives.

After the announcement event, we will be hosting the University of Calgary’s first WELab mentorship workshop.

• 11:00 AM – 11:15 AM – Networking
• 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM – VIP Remarks from University of Calgary and local innovation community
• 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM – Announcement of WELab and its offerings for 2019/2020
• 12:00 PM to 12: 05 PM – Closing Remarks
• 12:05 PM to 12:15 PM – Networking

Cost: This event is FREE but registration is required.

Open to: Students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members are welcome to attend WELab’s announcement event. Light lunch and beverages will be available.

Mentorship Workshop After Announcement Event

Please note: After the announcement event, the first WELab mentorship workshop will begin at 12:45 PM in the Hunter Hub, MSC 171. We require time between the announcement event and workshop to ensure the room and catering is ready for the workshop’s participants.

WELab’s mentorship workshop is available to UCalgary female-identifying students, staff and faculty only and requires separate registration.

It is not necessary to attend the announcement event to participate in the WELab mentorship workshop.
